10/16/2017 - Catch rates have improved recently when the lake conditions have been favorable (rip currents or lake winds that don't dirty up everything).
10/13/2017 - The fall Kamloops are the best quality of the whole season. They strip 6 lb. test easily making runs and jumps. They have been big in size but not number from shore. Water temperature is warmer than what they seem to prefer at 57 °F. Spawn, spoons, and spinners have caught a few.
10-11-2017 - Lake Superior MODIS Imagery shows the extent of the sediment loaded water that has recently entered the lake from streams.
10/8/2017 - Today was the close of the lake trout season. Lake Superior is very high at this time making shore fishing a prospect of having less shore to utilize with water up to the banks in many areas. A very few Kamloops have been reported caught so far this fall. Water temperatures in the rivers have recently declined to the low 50 °F area and the lake temperature is still in the high 50 °F range.
9/21/2017 - From the MN DNR Lake Superior Summer Creel Fishing Report ..."A few shore anglers caught Pink Salmon and small Chinook Salmon. Shore-casters are reporting that Rainbow Trout are hitting spoons. Pink Salmon are in the rivers or at river mouths following the recent rains."...
9/3/2017 - There has been no reported shore or stream activity as yet with lake and stream temperatures in the sixties F.. Boat fishing continues to be the option for the North Shore - files.dnr.state.mn.us/areas/fisheries/lakesuperior/2017-su-creel.pdf. The French River Cold Water Hatchery appears to still be discharging water so the resolution of how to handle the captive steelhead brood stock that is housed there may still be under consideration by MN DNR Fisheries???
